Their monthly interest charges are way too high. I'm on time with my payments and I always pay more than the minimum. I want to pay it off as soon as possible. However, they do have great customer service and problem resolution.

I just received my credit card about two months ago. I made my first payment on time, paid online through the website, and the payment posted immediately, on the holiday. I made my second payment early on June 16th on the website, it is not actually due until July 1st. The payment has not posted to my account yet !! I called Merrick Bank three times to ask why my payment has not been posted or even showing as 'pending' on my account. None of the three customer service representatives that I talked to could give me a straight answer, only that there is a 'problem' with the payment system, and it should be resolved soon. Well, it's been a week, how soon is soon'? This is utterly unacceptable !! No one even explained what the problem actually is. My payment is just sitting in limbo. The money was drafted from my bank account immediately on June 16th. Hopefully, my payment will be posted on time by July 1st. Is anyone else having this issue, or has anyone had this problem before?

Their rates are too high, and they even charged me a late fee once, even though I was never late. So I paid it off and closed my account.

I was approved for a Merrick Bank credit card and after six months I received a credit increase, which put me at, I believe, $1,400. I have never paid late and always paid my full balance. Recently, I mistakenly paid twice in the same billing cycle and was charged a $29.00 late fee. I called throughout the span of five days and spoke with six different customer service representatives who assured me that the late fee would be removed as a courtesy, since that is allowed one time. It has not been removed as of today, and my initial call was on May 19th. I called Merrick Bank again today only to find out that the six previous representatives I spoke with, who told me that the late fee would be removed, never started the process, but told me on every single call that the notes were in the system and to keep checking. This just goes to show that they don't value a good customer who has always paid on time, and they would rather continue to lie than dismiss a first-time late fee that was due courtesy from an honest mistake. From now on, I will pay on the due date. Poor customer service. The representative that I spoke with today said that she would make sure it's removed and to look for it on the next billing cycle.

Everything is working perfectly. The online debit card payment processing is very simple, and I'm impressed with the customer service, so I'm really glad to be working with Merrick Bank. I also love their generous credit limits and the credit line increases. I can't see myself leaving Merrick Bank anytime soon. Thanks, Merrick Bank.

I have never had an account with this company, yet they appear on my consumer report. This persists even after I submitted my identity theft FTC paperwork and contacted the CFPB. They removed it, but somehow it was placed back on there. This situation is a headache. I am going to take them to court because at 73 years old, I don't have the strength to fight them on my own.

I've had Merrick Bank for a year. My account remained in good standing. They started my credit limit out low and it went up to $2,500 in the year I had them. I called this morning to see if they would waive the annual fee. I was informed that they wouldn't, so I closed my account. I could absolutely understand them refusing to waive it if I had a balance on my account, but I didn't owe them anything. So, for that, I canceled my card. If you can, go with a card that has no annual fee.

Why close it the 2,500 credit is good to have for your credit utilization and you could have paid the annual fee off over time...

If I could, I would rate it a zero. I did this to try and build credit. They took my money, but I have no idea if I was approved or denied. I have to wait 10 days to find out. Then, if not approved, I have to wait to get my money back. My husband recently passed away, and I am using this to help build credit. It's very disappointing.

I opened my account two months ago and at the beginning of March, my online account showed my payment due as zero. I entered that in my bill spreadsheet for tracking and went on about my business. Looking at April's bill, I now see a late fee and missed payment claimed by this company for the month of March. I called customer service to inquire about what had happened and was told, "because your account was in collections, you would have to talk to that department about your questions." Wait, what? My first and only payment, which was made this morning before the call and only 11 days late at this point, put my account into collections? I dispute this claim, folks. I closed this account after that unsatisfactory statement by their customer service representative and won't miss the $72 annual fee either. They can keep their subpar customer service and their questionable billing practices. There are too many credit card companies out there with better offerings to waste time with this one.

Sounds like you missed the billing cycle date. Check your statement that was mailed for the billing cycle date.

Eleven days late is the beginning of your problem and it all went down the tubes from there.

Merrick Bank is not a very good credit card company because its credit cards have high APRs, costly fees and no rewards. The main benefit of a Merrick Bank credit card is the potential to improve your credit score with responsible use.

Merrick Bank credit cards have an average user rating of 3.6/5 on WalletHub, based on more than 2,000 reviews, only about 41% of which are 5 stars. All card issuers have strengths and weaknesses, however, and people's experiences with credit card companies can vary widely.

If you find that the best credit card for your needs is from Merrick Bank, you may still want to apply. After all, Merrick Bank does offer cards such as the Merrick Bank Credit Card that automatically doubles your credit line if you pay at least the minimum payment on time for the first seven months your account is open.

@CLoop

Yes, Merrick Bank is for bad credit. Applicants with credit scores below 640 who are looking to rebuild their bad credit can get approved for all three Merrick Bank credit cards: the Merrick Bank Secured Credit Card, the “Double Your Line" secured card, and the Merrick Bank Credit Card.

All of Merrick Bank's credit cards also report account activity to the three major credit bureaus, which is a key feature if you're trying to rebuild credit.
